The SIMON project was initiated by the secondary schools of the Ballarat Catholic Diocese because none of the portal packages available at the time fully met their needs. Typically, software developers seem to produce what they think schools need. With SIMON, the schools had definite requirements and their continuous input to the development team has now borne fruit in an application which can be used extensively by administration, teachers, students and parents.
SIMON is a non-profit, Australian project and every effort has been made to keep costs down. Modules in SIMON include: Student assessment and reporting, student attendance, resource bookings, behavioural tracking, Parent Access Module (PAM), parent teacher interviews, learning areas including rubric builder and much more. SIMON has literally been built for schools, by schools.
