James is currently a Year 5 Learning Mentor at The Geelong College Middle School. He is part of a team of 3 teachers working with a group of 66 Year 5 students in flexible, open planned learning space. James is part of the collaborating team that created the Designing the Future curriculum for the Year 5 students in 2014. He has presented at state and interstate conferences around the philosophy of constructivist learning and maker movement in education. James has completed further professional development and study through Harvard University’s ‘Project Zero’ around teaching and learning in the maker-centred classroom. In 2017, he toured the United States of America and as part of that tour, attended Dr Gary Stager’s world-renowned “Constructing Modern Knowledge” Institute where he worked alongside leading educators in the ‘maker’ field.
