From the desk of DLTV President Ben Gallagher
Hi and a warm welcome back to Term Four.
We have decided not to attempt face-to-face PL this term as we feel schools will be keen to have a settled, uninterrupted term. That said we are revisiting our successful webinar series.
Our aim is to run at least six webinars throughout the term. Generally, these will be on Thursdays at 4pm with a 30-minute presentation and 10 minutes for questions and answers. As has been our practice in the time of remote learning and COVID these will be free of charge, so I hope you will support us by participating.
Our DLTV team have been working hard on several projects. All of these have been kindly funded by the Department.
In November we will be publishing our two Connecting Learning to Work projects which have a focus on Digital Technologies and ICT careers. The first will provide material and resources aimed at exploring careers in Digital Technologies and ICT and what the future of these careers might look like. The second will be focused on encouraging girls to pursue careers in Digital Technologies and ICT.
Our other major project is supplying modules of content for the Teaching Excellence Program through Bastow.
Our VCE subcommittee is also busily preparing for our one VCE Applied Computing Teachers' Conference and Exam Prep webinar, the latter of which is coming up this very week.
Preparation for our virtual DigiCon conference is well under way, our Conference Subcommittee is now meeting fortnightly under the leadership of Jo Blannin. We will have dates shortly but are currently looking towards the end of January 2022. Similar to our successful ACCE conference earlier this year the format will be across a Mon-Thu 4pm to 6pm.
Keep an eye on your inbox later this week as we will be emailing you about renewing your membership or for those non-members encouraging you to join us in 2022.
Remember we’re always here for our membership and can only provide content, workshops, conferences, etc. if we have a strong member base.
Finally, I hope the first few weeks of term go well for you and your school.
As always reach out if we can support you in any way.
Cheers, Ben
